The motor industry provides job opportunities all over the world for highly skilled mechanics and technicians. It’s a dynamic, high tech, challenging and exciting environment in which to build a career.

What will I learn?
You will be required to pass an aptitude test and have a reasonable ability in maths, science and English, or be able to demonstrate the potential to achieve a Level 2 NVQ.
The component parts of your apprenticeship will depend upon the motor sector in which you wish to work. You will be able to select from a range, which includes:
- Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Mechanical, Electrical and Trim body fitting
- Vehicle Body and Paint Operations (Body Repair)
- Vehicle Body and Paint Operations (Body Refinishing).
You will be able to achieve an NVQ at Level 2 in the sector you have chosen.
You will also gain:
- A technical certificate
- Key skills in communication, application of number and information technology
- You will receive training in health and safety and how the law applies to you at work.
How will I be trained?
Most of your training will be in your company workplace with your employer and you will be earning a wage. You will be required to attend training sessions at a training centre on a day or block release basis. We will visit you at regular intervals in your workplace to assess your practical ability, and we will provide ongoing support.
What about the future?
A motor apprenticeship provides the best possible preparation to achieving trained operator/semi-skilled status in the industry. It may also provide progression to:
An advanced apprenticeship that will enable you to achieve an NVQ Level 3. You will develop more advanced craft and diagnostic skills and be prepared for future progression to supervisory or junior management roles.
