Food Processing & Cooking NVQ

To achieve this NVQ candidates must complete 11 units in total, consisting of 3 mandatory units covering health & safety and hygiene, team working and maintaining food safety, and 9 optional units covering the preparation, cooking and finishing of a variety of dishes.

Who will benefit:

The Food Processing and Cooking NVQ Level 2 is suggested for candidates working within local authority catering, school meals, residential and care homes, the National Health Service, either as contractors or direct caterers and licensed retail outlets.

Entry requirements:

No formal entry requirements, although it would be advantageous the candidate will be working in one of the above environments.

Course Aims:

To promote awareness of food hygiene in the workplace and to develop new and existing skills in the preparing and cooking of food. To enable participants to understand the importance of promoting a positive image of their organisation, completing kitchen documentation and how to set and close a kitchen.

  • Professional Cookery (Flexible) NVQ Level 3

Duration:

Up to 12 months
