Introduction to Milling and Turning
Introducing conventional milling and turning processes with tutored, hands-on experience of common metal removal techniques. The process technology is covered giving sufficient understanding to identify and operate conventional mills, lathes and identify common operation procedures and machining faults.
Who will benefit:
Any person embarking on a career in a machine shop environment using lathes and milling machines. This course would also be ideal for model/ hobby engineering enthusiasts who need to develop their skills.
Entry requirements:
None, but a general machining ability would be an advantage.
Course Aims:
Participants will:
- Have an understanding of the general safety aspects of conventional milling and turning
- Be able to assemble and set up equipment and recognise common equipment defects
- Identify controls, settings and process variables
- Understand work holding principles
- Understand the processes of engineering measurement
- Gain hands-on skills
